What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When visiting our site we'll get some of your personal data. Below you'll find the description on how that information is gathered and used.

Comments

When leaving your comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

With our Contact form we don't track users by stealth, write any user personal data to the database, send any data to external servers or use cookies.

Cookies

WPML, the pluging we use, uses cookies to identify the visitor’s current language, the last visited language and the language of users who have logged in. No data from the user itself will be shared.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web-analysis tool from Google Inc. («Google»). Google Analytics uses «cookies». «Cookies» are text files that are saved to your computer. They enable an analysis of how you use the website. The information generated by the cookies about your use of this website is typically transferred to a Google server in the USA where it is then saved. However, IP anonymisation is activated on this website, so your IP address is truncated by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states party to the agreement in the European Economic Area.

The full IP address is only transferred to a Google server in the USA and truncated there in exceptional cases. Google uses this information to evaluate the use of the website, to generate reports on website activity for the website operator and to provide other services associated with website and internet use. If necessary, Google will also forward this information to third parties to the extent permissible in law or when a third party is requested by Google to process this data. The IP address recorded from your browser by Google Analytics will not be added to other data by Google.

You can prevent cookies from being written to your PC by activating the appropriate browser setting. However, we would like to point out that should you do so, you may not be able to use the website’s full functionality. By using this website, you agree to the processing of data retrieved from you by Google in the above-described way and for the above-explained purposes. To disable Google Analytics, download and install the following add-on for your browser software. https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en

The data sent by us and linked with cookies, user IDs or advertising IDs are automatically deleted after 14 months. Data whose retention period has been reached is automatically deleted once a month.

Who we share your data with

We may use your personal data to communicate with you after you  submitted a contact form but this is done only to contact you for customer care related purposes.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you  have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service. We don't send your data to any outside servers.
